The Start

Troop 682 was founded on Feb 8, 1990

Troop 682 is born from Scouts of Pack 813. We convened on Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm and were governed by the PVUMC. We continue to meet from 7-8:30 pm and are still chartered by the PVUMC, despite the fact that a lot has changed since 1990.

 

Fun facts:

  • Sam Barnum, a Scoutmaster who earlier oversaw Troop 160, served as the founding leader of Troop 682. 

  • Frank Stipe III was elected as the first senior patrol leader.

  • Greg Barnum was elected as an Assistant senior patrol leader. 

  • Jeffrey “Brandon” Rigsbee was elected as the first Historian.

  • The first Troop Committee meeting for the newly chartered troop was held on February 12, 1990, at Shelia and Sam Barnum’s home.

  • Troop 682 started with 12 Scouts divided into TWO patrols, Iguanas and Wolverines

  • On April 2022, Troop 682 G was formed with 4 Scouts 
  • Marjie Quigley is is our first 682 G Scout master
  • Emma Whitely was elected as the first senior patrol leader for Troop 682 G
