What is the PLC?

The troop’s plans for each month are reviewed and carried out by the Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC).

The PLC plans the yearly troop program at it’s annual planning conference. It then meets monthly to fine-tune the plans for the upcoming month. The PLC is made up of the senior patrol leader, who presides over the meetings, the assistant senior patrol leader, all patrol leaders, and appointed leaders. The troop scribe also attends to take notes and keep the minutes.

Senior Patrol Leader Report
This is the last meeting of the term. We will be getting new scouts tomorrow.
Scoutmaster Report

Tomorrow night will be an introductory night for the new scouts while we finish off merit
badge madness. The troop guides will have a separate plan. We need to do a better job
with the group. We still have four scouts from the previous batch that don’t have scout
rank. This new batch should be ready for tenderfoot by autumn.
The troop elections are on April 28. When we think about elected positions, we need to
think about our commitments. Positions of responsibility require a lot of time and effort.
Appointed positions will be chosen by the SPL with the adults as advisors only. We will
not have 4+ people in the same position because this makes it hard to coordinate.
Moving forward, there will be a duty position book, so the whole troop knows what is
expected of the duty positions.
We need to go through the old shed and label the stuff in the new containers.
Patrol Leader Reports
– Honey Badger (Carter): People are ranking up.
– Narwhal (Yash): Attendance is good. Everyone is working on their merit badges.
– Orca (John Phillip):
– Penguin (Ashwin): Attendance is good. He will try to get members to attend the
scout skills campout.
– Raven (Nayan): Attendance has been good since merit badge madness.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Kellan, Atharv, Raaghav, and Jason Cody): They’re
ready for the new scouts but no TGs will be available tomorrow.
– Quartermasters (Jon and Austin): There hasn’t been any trips that require
packing.
– Webmaster (Haidar): The website is running smoothly.

Senior Patrol Leader Report
We have the Battleship Overnighter this month. The Scout Skills campout is this month.
Scoutmaster Report

We did a good job at the Advanced Scout Skills Campout. It was very hands-on with
time to bond as scouts. Our meetings have also been very well-planned.
We shouldn’t live by the Scout Oath and Law one hour a day but rather at all times. It’s
hard to believe a dishonest person when they’re telling the truth. No one wants to scout
with people who are cheating the system. We will be emphasizing living the Scout Oath
and Law all-day everyday.
March is merit badge madness. New scouts start coming in April. We need to start
planning for the new scouts. Troop guides and instructors need to make sure new
scouts have earned their scout rank by autumn.
Patrol Leader Reports
– Honey Badger (Carter): Attendance has gone up. Younger scouts are getting
signed off on stuff.
– Narwhal (Yash): The patrol is actually starting to show up.
– Orca (John Phillip): We did the Marine Corps museum this weekend. About 10
scouts went.
– Penguin (Ashwin): ABSENT
– Raven (Nayan): Attendance has remained the same. 2 scouts in Raven got OA.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Quartermasters (Austin and Jon): They’re starting to work on organization.
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv, Jason Cody, and Kellan): There were a lot of
scouts learning how to do lashings on the last campout.
– Webmaster (Haidar): The website’s functioning.

Senior Patrol Leader Report
We might have to change some meetings since we can’t go outside due to the snow.

Scoutmaster Report
We’ve been doing a really good job with planning recently. The scouts that are showing
up are engaged. However, we need to plan activities that everyone can participate in.
Scout Sunday is Feb 8. If you are not participating in the Ski Trip, you need to show up
to that. This is our chance to give back to the church. Some PLC members have not
shown up to a lot of PLC meetings. Mar 21-22 is the Battleship Overnighter. Lunch is on
us, but Norfolk is in this weird area where there’s not a lot of shops.
Patrol Leader Reports
– Honey Badger (Carter): Attendance has increased. The new scouts are getting
stuff signed off.
– Narwhal (Yash): Only half the patrol is showing up.
– Orca (John Phillip): Orca didn’t do much in January.
– Penguin (Ashwin): He’s going to gauge the attendance from his patrol for the ski
trip.
– Raven (Nayan): Attendance has increased. He will remind his patrol about the ski
trip and pinewood derby.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (Aarnav)
– Chaplain Aide (Arjun and Logan)
– Den Chiefs (Nayan, Conor, Dylan, Jason Cody, and Madhav)
– Historian (Yug)
– OA Unit Representative (Open): The OA election is Feb 24.
– Quartermasters (Austin and Jon): There hasn’t been much to do.
– Scribe (Henry)
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv, Jason Cody, and Kellan): They’ve planned a
few teachings. There’s a gear teaching, then a lashings teaching, then a shelter
teaching.
– Webmaster (Haidar): There’s a new pop-up on the website for the mulch
fundraiser.

Senior Patrol Leader Report

Last month went well. We have the annual holiday party this month. There’s a lot going
on in February.
Scoutmaster Report
It’s a new year and there will be some changes. Mr. Kay is officially the scoutmaster this
month. We really need to get inventory of the storage container. We still need to
improve on follow-through. If we don’t follow through on our plans, the troop suffers. We
need to have a plan by Thursday or Friday rather than Monday or Tuesday. Every year,
we have rowdy behavior and unscoutlike behavior during the holiday party. That will not
be tolerated this year. Adults will supervise the gift exchange, so we have fun without
chaos.

Patrol Leader Reports
– Honey Badger (Carter): The teaching before the break went well.
– Narwhal (Yash): Attendance has improved but it’s still bad.
– Penguin (Ashwin): Ashwin will try to get people to attend the upcoming daytrip.
– Raven (Nayan): The people who do come are getting stuff signed off on.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Quartermasters (Austin and Jon): They got to organize the storage container.
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv, Jason Cody, and Kellan): The campout got
cancelled, so there hasn’t been much to do. They’ve helped organize the storage
container.
– Webmaster (Haidar): The website is running smoothly. Haidar needs to talk to
Yug about photos.

Senior Patrol Leader Report
We have had good attendance in the meetings. Ryan will not be at the advanced skills
campout.
Scoutmaster Report

We are alternating with the G troop for monthly patrol. The advanced scout skills
campout is Dec 5-7. Jan 6 is the holiday party. We should NOT wait until the night
before to plan it. The Cub Run District Klondike Derby is Jan 16-18, but will not be
going. Jan 10-11 is the space exploration overnighter. This year’s hiking campout was
good. There is interest in doing Old Rag for next year’s hiking campout. The utility closet
and the picture of the utility closet do not match. We need to reorganize the closet. We
are doing the Hindu and Christian Religious Emblems. The door for appointed positions
is now closed. We need to make sure that when we’re signing off requirements, we
need to make sure they can demonstrate the skill. As 682B, we earned the OA Troop
Excellence Award. In January, Mr. Whiteley wants to sit down with all the OA members
of 682B and 682G to discuss the upcoming OA election. We were late on confirming
with Mr. Martin about the backpacking teaching. We cannot wait until the last minute to
coordinate teachings.

show up to the Advanced Scout Skills campout.

trying to take care of the tent issue.
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv N, Jason Cody, and Kellan): They need to

Senior Patrol Leader Report
We have the Pack 910 Carnival in 2 weeks. The Hiking Campout is also that day, so if
you don’t go to that, go to the Pack 910 Carnival.
Scoutmaster Report
Welcome to the new term. You are expected to attend at least half of the monthly events
and half of the PLC meetings. Going forward, before boards of reviews for Star, Eagle,
and Life, Mr. Kay and Mr. Thompson will go into Scoutbook and make sure all signed off
requirements are legit. Nov 1 was the Scouting for Food Solicitation and only 18 682B
scouts showed up. Nov 8 is the Scouting for Food Collection. For the 910 Carnival, we
need to designate a scout to lead that. We need to do a better job at organizing the

weekly troop meetings. Mr. Kay will start to lead the troop. Mr. Williams will be the main
ASM. He will be working with the 682B and 682G quartermaster. We need to do a better
job at organizing our equipment. If any patrol leaders don’t have a leaders’ book, they
should get those from their predecessors. We should be using the forms inside the
books to plan things. When we go camping, there needs to be a solid plan. When we
have meetings, there needs to be a solid plan. Requirements are important but keeping
up skills are more important. The Advanced Scout Skills campout is Dec 5–7. This is a
very critical campout to have a plan for. Everyone seems to hate roses and thorns.
Roses and thorns are very important because they allow us to give feedback and learn
from our mistakes.
Patrol Leader Reports
– Honey Badger (Carter): There is a lot of younger scouts.
– Narwhal (Yash): Only 3 scouts show up most of the time.
– Orca (John Phillip): It’s going well so far.
– Penguin (Ashwin): They have a mix of younger scouts and older scouts.
– Raven (Nayan): A lot of new scouts came in. Attendance has been pretty good.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Quartermasters (Austin and Jon): They will try to change out the color system for
the chuckboxes where instead they label them 1–12.
– Scribe (Henry): I’ve been doing the minutes.
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv, Jason Cody, and Kellan): They haven’t done
anything yet, but they plan on making troop guide books.
– Webmaster (Haidar): The website’s running smoothly. He’s planning on making a
more efficient system with the PLC minutes and troop announcements.

Senior Patrol Leader Report

This is our last PLC meeting together. We’ve learned a lot. We will be transitioning from
Mr. Thompson as Scoutmaster to Mr. Kay in January.
Scoutmaster Report
Oct 3-5 was the Astronomy campout. We’ve heard some concerning reports about
behavior from that campout. Also, phones were not collected. The phones were an
issue, even if nobody observed the problem. The phone ban is not optional. The PLC is
expected to attend half of the events to receive credit for it. Most of the PLC has not
attended half of the events. The Camporee is Oct 10-12. The Pancake Breakfast
Overnighter is Oct 25-26. Braeden Montague’s Eagle Court of Honor is Oct 12. If you
show up, you are expected to show up in full Class A. The Fall Court of Honor is Oct 14.
The PLC is expected to show up to that by 6:30PM. Troop Elections are on Oct 28. The
new PLC will be under the rule of Mr. Kay. For appointed positions, if you have not met
your attendance requirements, you are the least likely to get the position. Scouting for
Food is Nov ___. Our weekly meetings the last 4-6 weeks have not been planned out
well. Since school started, it appears there has been no coordination going on. Also, the
whole monthly meeting patrol appears to have gone away with the whole monthly
meeting patrol.
Patrol Leader Reports
– Narwhal (Nathan): He has not shown up in a while.
– Orca (Kale): There is still a consistent group of people that show up. He has not
seen any phones but there has been some inappropriate usage of phones.
– Raven (Bisaj): Attendance has been skyrocketing.
– New Scout Patrol One (Avyay): Attendance has gotten better. No one in his
patrol has a phone, so there haven’t been any phone problems.
– New Scout Patrol Two (Noah): Attendance is good. A couple scouts don’t know
what patrol they’re in.
Appointed Leader Reports
– Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders (Jon and Kellan): They’re looking forward to the
camporee. We need to plan our meetings better.
– Den Chiefs (Nayan, Dylan, Jason Cody Potter, and Madhav): Meetings have
stated for cub scouts. Nayan has invited some cub scouts to observe our
meetings.
– Instructors (Samvith and Yug): There isn’t many teachings to do in October.

– Quartermasters (Austin, Keenan, and Nolan): They have finished cleaning up the
trailer and shed.
– Scribe (Henry): I have been doing the minutes.
– Troop Guides (Alexander, Atharv, Jason Cody, and Aarnav): Troop guide stuff
has been going well. The new scouts are in their new patrols and have gotten a
lot of stuff signed off.
– Webmaster (Haidar and Kevin): They have been working on the website a lot.
They have updated the announcements and calendar. They are working on the
merit badges right now.
