Weekly Announcements
By: Scout Master
Finally, some really nice weather! I hope everyone had a great weekend and got to spend some time outdoors enjoying the weather. Pease remember that we have
a PLC meeting tomorrow and a Pipsico Summer Camp PARENT meeting during
Tuesday’s regular Troop meeting. If your scout is attending summer camp, please attend the parent meeting.
Additionally, the troop meeting on June 9 will be our Spring Court of Honor. Families are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony as we celebrate the
accomplishments of our scouts since our last CoH. Please note that it is a ceremony, and thus we cannot be sure exactly how long it will take, the last CoH did end before 8:30. The CoH is also a formal affair, scouts are expected to come in the proper uniform; green scout pants (or good substitute), tan scouting shirt, Troop neckerchief, and merit badge sash. The CoH is our chance to look good as we receive recognition for hard work.
A quick reminder to also make sure you are CC’ing a parent or another Scout Leader when communicating via email.
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Kay

5. NEW TENT POLICY.
In the past, Troop 682 provided tents for campouts. In recent years, however, troop tents used during campouts have not been returned, or have been returned damaged. Despite purchasing numerous new tents in recent years, the troop again has insufficient tents. To address this continuing concern, during its February 9, 2026 meeting, the Troop 682 Committee decided that:
After a Scout earns Second Class rank, or is active in the troop for 12 months, he or she is expected to provide his or her own tent for campouts (or tent with another scout providing his or her own tent) and
Between 2 and 4 Scouts will tent together.
Absent special circumstances approved by the Scoutmaster or trip leader, a Scout may not tent by himself or herself.
The tenting expectation begins immediately, with reasonable time to accommodate obtaining a tent or tenting with another Scout that has a tent.
The troop will continue providing tents for Scouts with no rank to Tenderfoot rank, or active in the troop for less than 12 months.
To the extent possible, the troop will continue providing tents for backpacking campouts.
If providing his or her own tent is financially challenging for a Scout, then the Scout should speak with his or her Scoutmaster.
5. CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS EMBLEM PROGRAM. Will NOT meet during the meeting. The Christian Religious Emblem Program will resume meeting after Merit Badge Madness.
• Before the next meeting, please read section 3 (“Each of Us Must Make a Personal Response to the Call of God”) of the God and Life Student Workbook. Please read all the Bible verses and answer all the questions. But, you don’t need to complete the “Service Project Three.” We’ll probably complete that as a group.
• Also, please remember to read the book of Matthew.

8. NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING (NYLT): National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting 6-day program designed for youth to learn leadership skills that will help them succeed in Scouting and in life! NYLT is not like summer camp and is not designed for rank advancement or earning merit badges. NYLT is an intense and challenging hands-on leadership training program. It is essential that NYLT participants be physically, emotionally, and mentally prepared to handle the demands of this advanced training. To get the most benefit from this unique experience, participants must exhibit emotional maturity, a positive attitude, proficiency in basic camping and outdoor cooking, and have an ambition to serve in leadership roles.
